The winners of Europe’s most prestigious camping award will be announced at the ADAC Camping Gala in Stuttgart on January 13, 2023. The nominees in the «Sustainability and Environmental Awareness» category
- Camping du Domaine de Massereau (France)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/camping-du-domaine-de-massereau
ADAC classification: 5 stars, user rating: Good (3.6)
The ADAC Supersite Camping du Domaine de Massereau, awarded with 5 stars, focuses on a sustainable and environmentally friendly use of the camping site across all areas. For example, the photovoltaic system completed in 2021 supplies the campsite with 100% electricity – unique in Europe. All communication with guests runs paperless via app. Sustainable waste, energy and water management and raising the awareness of guests for a resource-saving approach to their environment are proof of the successful implementation of responsible camping tourism.
- Camping Park Havelberge (Germany)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/campingpark-havelberge
ADAC classification: 5 stars, user rating: Very Good (4.0)
The flagship of the Haveltourist Group, the Havelberge Camping Park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, has been proving for years that consistent sustainable management and economic success are not contradictory. Quite the opposite: the ADAC Supersite is a real camper’s favorite also thanks to its sustainable orientation. The operators of the campsite are working intensively on the expansion of sustainable structures, for example in the sanitary building, which has been consistently designed to save resources. The company is the first campsite in Germany to participate in the Voluntourism project. Campers help with nature conservation work as part of this project. Campingpark Havelberge has also undergone the rigorous environmental audit according to the criteria of the EU Ecolabel and received the award in the fall of 2021.
- Nysted Strand Camping (Denmark)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/nysted-strand-camping
ADAC classification: 4.5 stars, user rating: Fabulous (4.3)
Nysted Strand Camping was the first and so far only campsite in Denmark to be awarded the EU ECOLABEL. The sustainable, environmentally friendly management of the site on the Baltic Sea island of Lolland is thus already sufficiently documented. What makes the Danish site so special is the involvement of guests in activities in nature and around the theme of environmental protection. The aim is to inspire campers to adopt a sustainable and environmentally conscious lifestyle, in an informal way and without pointing fingers.
The guest program includes: a nature quiz for children, hikes and bike tours with experienced nature guides, meditations under the stars and planting trees together.
The nominees in the «Innovation and Progress» category
- Orlando in Chianti Glamping Resort (Italy) https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/camping-orlando-in-chianti
ADAC classification: 3.5 stars, user rating: Good (3.5)
Europe’s first glamping site in the heart of the Chianti region presents a wide variety of glamping accommodations. From the two-story Airlodge with a starry view to the Bohemian Lodge designed in a vintage look to the US School Bus converted into a vacation home, there is something for every glamping taste. The operators are constantly developing new glamping ideas and skilfully staging them on the spacious grounds. The latest glamping idea with that certain «wow» effect: an Airstream caravan converted into a luxury home with a lounge terrace and hot tub.
- Camping & Resort Sanguli Resort (Spain)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/camping-resort-sanguli-salou
ADAC classification: 5 stars, user rating: Fabulous (4,5)
This campsite on the sunny Costa Daurada offers its guests a whole lot of attractions and amenities that make the camper life more beautiful and pleasant. Five different water worlds and an extensive range of sports and entertainment await the campers. The innovative elements here lie rather in the details. Particularly striking: the architecture of the new sanitary unit with heated bathing area and private cabins that can be booked online. Especially smart: the free dishwasher service with express wash cycles: maximum efficiency in just 5 minutes!
- TCS Pop Up Glamping (Switzerland)
Who invented it? The Swiss! With the TCS Pop-Up Glamping, the Swiss camping experts of the Touring Club Switzerland have created a unique and exclusive glamping experience located above the tree line in the Alps. The pop-up village, consisting of 20 comfortable tent units and two tent suites, combines nature with comfort, excellent service, great food and fine wines from the region. A very special and unusual camping experience.
The nominees in the «Demographic Change and Accessibility» category
- Camping Harfenmühle (Germany)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/camping-harfenmuehle
ADAC classification: 4 stars, user rating: Fabulous (4.6)
A small campsite in Rhineland-Palatinate, Camping Harfenmühle, shows the big ones how to successfully implement the idea of «Camping for All». With a lot of heart, commitment and understanding, barrier-free access to all areas is created here. Family-friendly sanitary facilities with showers at ground level and washbasins that can be moved underneath are just as much a part of this as barrier-free parking spaces, restaurants and mobile homes.
- Holiday Village Florence (Italy)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/holiday-village-florenz
ADAC classification: 4.5 stars, user rating: Very Good (4.1)
The campsite has been V4A certified for years – this means that both the entire resort and the associated beaches are accessible to all – including and especially guests with disabilities. This includes barrier-free access to sanitary facilities and barrier-free mobile homes. Even the journey to the beaches is no problem for wheelchair users. New since 2022 is that now also visually impaired and blind people can use the campsite. The entire camping village can be explored via tactile maps and information material in Braille.
- Les Jardins de la Pascalinette (France)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/camping-de-la-pascalinette
ADAC classification: 4.5 stars, user rating: Fabulous (5.0)
The Les Jardins de la Pascalinette campsite in the Var department, nestled in a vineyard, was awarded the «Tourisme & Handicap» label back in 2012. Rightly so. Because almost all areas are barrier-free and adapted to the needs of people with mobile limitations and mental disabilities. Whether mobile homes, pitches for campers and tents or sports and leisure facilities, everything is designed for unhindered access for all guests.

- Ostseequelle.Camp (Germany)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/ostseequelle-camp
ADAC classification: 3 stars, user rating: Good (3.7)
No one comes to the campsite, located on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg, without having booked online beforehand. The entire booking process is digitalized. Only online bookings are accepted. Guests arriving without prior booking use a terminal at the former reception building for online check-in. Access to the campsite is controlled by a barrier with license plate recognition. Advantage for the camper: No waiting times for check-in and check-out, the desired site can be accessed immediately. Advantage for the campsite operator: Instead of lengthy check-in and check-out procedures, he has more time to take care of his guests and his campsite.
Zaton Holiday Resort (Croatia)
https://www.pincamp.de/campingplaetze/zaton-holiday-resort
ADAC classification: 5 stars, user rating: Fabulous (4.4)
The Zaton Holiday Resort near Zadar is a pioneer of digitalization in the camping sector. At a very early stage, the Croatian camping experts relied on online booking via their own website and via interfaces to other booking platforms such as PiNCAMP. With great success: Zaton Holiday Resort is one of the most booked campsites on PiNCAMP.de.
The award ceremony of the ADAC Camping Awards 2023 will again take place as a live event during the ADAC Camping Gala in Stuttgart on January 13, 2023.
