Summer camping holidays in 2025 remain affordable. This is the result of the PiNCAMP Price Analysis 2025*. Overnight prices for a family of three campers will increase by around 6 percent across Europe to an average of 52 euros. Germany (40 euros) and Sweden (43 euros) offer the most affordable overnight options among the main European holiday countries.
According to the PiNCAMP Price Analysis, in 2025, camping prices for sites with three or more stars according to ADAC classification will increase by an average of 6 percent across Europe during the high season. A family of three campers will pay an average of 52 euros (previous year: 50 euros) for an overnight stay at a campsite during the summer high season – including a pitch for a motorhome or a caravan with a towing vehicle. In the European comparison of main holiday countries*, Germany, with 40 euros per overnight stay, is the most affordable camping country. Sweden ranks second with an overnight price of 43 euros. They are followed by France (50 euros), Denmark (51 euros), Austria (53 euros), the United Kingdom (54 euros), the Netherlands (55 euros), and Spain (60 euros). Camping holidays remain most expensive, as in previous years, in Slovenia and Switzerland (62 euros), Italy (66 euros), and Croatia (68 euros).
Spain with significant price increase; Sweden and the UK with minimal price hikes
The high-priced camping countries Croatia, Italy, and Switzerland remain within the European average with price increases between 4 and 6 percent. Spain leads in terms of price increases, with a rise of 5 euros per overnight stay, corresponding to a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year. Camping prices in the UK (0 percent) and Sweden (1 percent) remain virtually unchanged. In Germany, a family of campers with a ten-year-old child had to pay around 38 euros for an overnight stay at a campsite in 2024; in 2025, it’s 40 euros, a 5 percent increase.
Camping prices accepted; duration of stay slightly decreases
Camping has become an established form of vacation. In 2024 alone, nearly 43 million overnight stays were recorded at German campsites, a new record. Overnight prices are slightly increasing. “The moderate price adjustments are understandable after the turbulent price developments of recent years and are accepted by campers. Only in terms of travel duration, as our booking data shows, do German campers save one or two camping days,” says Uwe Frers, camping expert and CEO of PiNCAMP.
Camping prices continue to fluctuate: Bargain prices during the off-season
The camping industry responds to seasonally changing demand with flexible pricing. Camping prices no longer remain valid for an entire season but are increasingly adjusted daily based on occupancy and demand – as is already common in other areas of tourism. Especially campsites in prime locations, such as the North and Baltic Seas, Lake Garda, or the Croatian Adriatic coast, adjust prices upward when demand is high. “I therefore advise all campers to book their summer vacation as early as possible to secure favorable prices in time,” says Uwe Frers and explains: “With the availability search on pincamp.com, campsites with available capacities can be quickly found, conditions easily compared, and then booked directly online.” Those who can travel during the off-season, according to Frers, have a good chance of finding a bargain: “Prices in the off-season are about a third cheaper than during the summer high season. Those who also use the ADAC Campcard can receive up to a 50 percent discount on the overnight price.” The ADAC Campcard is available free of charge with the ADAC Camping and Pitch Guides, as well as the ADAC Camping and Pitch App, and is not available separately.
*) Definition: The PiNCAMP Price Analysis determines the amount a family of three campers must pay for a camping overnight stay during the summer high season. Included are the costs for two adults, one child up to 10 years old, and the pitch fee for a motorhome/car or a caravan with a towing vehicle. At the European level, price data from around 2,000 campsites, rated with three or more stars according to ADAC classification, in the main holiday countries Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden were considered.
