The 100 most popular campsites on PiNCAMP
Which campsites were in particularly high demand on PINCAMP.de in 2024? We have determined the 100 most popular campsites in Europe based on the user behavior of PINCAMP.de users: Germany has the most campsites in the top 100 with 36, followed by Croatia with 28 and Italy with 22 campsites.
The Croatian campsites with top demand are mostly located directly on the Adriatic. The best places in Italy can be found on the northern Adriatic coast or on Lake Garda. France, with 4 campsites in the Mediterranean and Atlantic, and Austria, with 3 campsites in the top 100, also performed well. Dutch, Slovenian and Swiss campsites are each represented twice in the top 100, while Denmark is represented by one campsite.
Many changes – and a new number one
The dynamics of the results compared to the previous year are striking: the four best-placed campsites have all improved. Frontrunner Ca’Pasquali Village on the Italian Adriatic improved from 3rd place in 2023 to 1st place this year. Ca’Pasquali thus replaced last year’s winner, Villagio Turistico Internazionale, which was also located on the Adriatic. He reached 7th place in 2024. The best-placed German site, Camping- und Ferienpark Wulfener Hals, worked its way up from 10th place last year to 2nd place. Camping La Rocca on Lake Garda even moved up 16 places, jumping from 19th place last year to 3rd place in 2024. Demand for PiNCAMP also rose at the South Sea Camp in the Lüneburg Heath – from 6th place in the previous year to 4th place in 2024. In 5th place in the overall top 100 is the best-placed Croatian campsite, Camping Kovačine on the island of Cres in the Kvarner Bay, which climbed to the same position the year before.
Many newcomers and almost all bookable online
Another result that not only surprised us positively: 23% of the places were not represented in the top 100 in the previous year. Ostseecamping Rostocker Heide stands out in particular, improving from 138th place last year to an excellent 9th place in 2024.
What is also striking is that the overwhelming majority of the 100 most popular campsites can be booked online – on their website and usually also on PiNCAMP. “Campsites that can be booked online are very popular with PiNCAMP users,” confirms Uwe Frers, CEO of PiNCAMP. “Modern campers are digital and search for and book their campsite online.”
Success even in the niche
This positive development not only affects larger campsites in major vacation regions: Other campsites are also focusing on even more satisfied guests and want to be visible and bookable online. Two examples: The German camping park Hüttensee jumped one thousand (!) places from 2023 to 2024, from 1,088th to 88th place. Ardoer Comfortcamping Scheldeoord climbed to 177th place. After finishing 34th last year, the team is now in an excellent 34th place.
Naturist Camping Ulika in Istria improved from 135. This makes Camping Ulika on the Croatian Adriatic the most popular naturist campsite in 2024, followed by Camping Domaine de Naturiste Riva Bella on Corsica (in 45th place, six places better than last year).
