The industry is moving innovatively and optimistically into the future – these were the topics at the three trade fairs
Camping entrepreneurs looked ahead to the coming 2023 season and found out about the latest trends and product ideas. ADAC Camping and PiNCAMP were represented with stands at the three trade fairs in Montpellier, Hardenberg and Lübeck-Travemünde. On site, our team exchanged ideas with camping operators about sustainability, online bookability, recruitment and many other topics that will shape 2023. Here are our impressions from the fairs and from numerous conversations:
Glamping and eco trends: the SETT in Montpellier, France, from 8 to 10 November 2022.
With 680 exhibitors and 17,136 trade visitors, about 10% of whom came from countries outside France, SETT set standards in the camping industry.
Innovations included glamping accommodation such as the French-made Cabanon luxury tents, the air-conditioned Tubbo tube accommodation with panoramic views or the new Coco Sweet Lodge with pitched roof. Sustainability also continues to play a leading role – for example, in creative play equipment made from recycled materials, water conservation and decentralised hot water generation with solar thermal. Recyclable or solar-powered barbecue grills were also among SETT’s product innovations.

Digital and creative: Recreatie Vakbeurs followed in Hardenberg, the Netherlands, from 15 to 17 November.
The trade fair for the leisure and camping industry reported a record number of visitors in its twenty-year history with 8,026 visitors. Highlights of the fair included games that combine digital and real activities, water games and imaginatively designed wooden children’s play equipment. E-mobility as well as newly designed mobile homes and creative glamping lodges also played a major role in Hardenberg.
We used our on-site meetings to award new and existing ADAC Superplätze 2023:
Trade fair and congress: The North German Camping Day in Lübeck-Travemünde from 16 to 18 November was also well attended.
Recruitment, digital solutions for administration and sales, data protection and rental accommodation were among the leading topics. Found on YouTube: The operators of Hetzingen campsite, like many other camping entrepreneurs, were at the NCT and made this informative, entertaining video:
