Significantly more overnight stays at campsites than in the pre-Corona year of 2019
The tourism industry in Germany set a new record in 2024 with 496.1 million guest overnight stays. According to preliminary results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), accommodation establishments recorded 1.9% more overnight stays than in 2023 and 0.1% more than in the previous record year of 2019, the year before the corona pandemic. In December 2024, accommodation establishments recorded 31.0 million guest overnight stays, 3.6% more than in December 2023.
While holiday accommodations slightly exceeded the 2019 level (+2.6%), campsites were even able to significantly increase their overnight stays compared to 2019 (+19.9%). Compared to the previous year, overnight stays in campsites increased by 1.4%.
