PiNCAMP, the camping portal of ADAC, ANWB and TCS, has analysed the usage behaviour of German campers on https://www.pincamp.de* and is once again publishing the Top 100 most in-demand campsites in Europe this year. The result of the analysis: With Camping- and Holiday Park Wulfener Hals and Südsee-Camp, two German sites lead the Top 100 ranking. Another finding of the PiNCAMP user analysis: German campers usually book their main summer holiday well in advance, already at the beginning of the year. At the start of the season and during the summer months of July and August, searches for available campsites and immediate bookings are made very spontaneously depending on the weather – sometimes from one day to the next. “Campsites that can be booked online and report sufficient free capacity are by far the most popular with PiNCAMP users,” confirms Uwe Frers, CEO of PiNCAMP.

The Top 100 most in-demand campsites in Europe are dominated by Germany (30 sites), Croatia (29 sites) and Italy (27 sites)

86 of the Top 100 campsites in Europe come from Germany, Croatia and Italy. Germany provides the most campsites among the Top 100 with 30 sites, closely followed by Croatia with 29 and Italy with 27 sites. With Camping- and Holiday Park Wulfener Hals (rank 1), Südsee-Camp (rank 2), Ostseecamping Familie Heide (5), Campingpark Ostseebad Rerik (7) and Ostseecamp Rostocker Heide (10), five German sites make it into the Top 10 of Europe’s most sought-after campsites. Camping Goes Digital: German Campers Search and Book Online

German campers increasingly book online, just as they are used to from other forms of travel such as hotel holidays, flights and package tours. This trend towards online booking is also reflected in the booking development at PiNCAMP. “Campsites that cannot be booked online are accessed significantly less often than those that offer their available pitches and rental accommodations as bookable online on PiNCAMP.de.” For the 2026 camping season, Frers expects another increase in campsites bookable online via PiNCAMP.de and a sharply rising demand: “Already now, the first sites for summer 2026 are being searched and booked on PiNCAMP.de.”
