3 min read

PiNCAMP, the ADAC camping portal, has analysed the usage behaviour of
German campers at PiNCAMP and is publishing the most popular campsites in Europe again this year.

To the overview of all TOP campsites in all countries on PiNCAMP

Germany
As in the previous year, the top spot among the top 100 most popular German campsites is taken by Camping- und Ferienpark Wulfener Hals on the Schleswig-Holstein island of Fehmarn in the Baltic Sea, followed by last year’s seventh place, Camping Wirthshof from Baden-Württemberg. The other rankings: In third and fourth place in 2021 are two campsites from Lower Saxony, which achieve a place in the top 10 of the most popular German campsites for the first time. Third place goes to Camping Stover Strand Kloodt from Drage at the Elbe. In 2020, the site located southeast of Hamburg was still ranked 43rd in Germany’s top 100 most popular campsites. Camping & Ferienpark Falkensteinsee from Ganderkesee near Bremen recorded an even greater percentage increase. With an increase of 679% in the number of views and great user ratings, the campsite, which has been awarded 4.5 stars by the ADAC, climbs from 300th to fourth place. This puts it ahead of last year’s runner-up, the Havelberge Camping and Holiday Park (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania).

Italy
In the popular holiday destination Italy, there is a real surprise to report this year: The new front-runner, Tahiti Camping & Thermae Bungalow Park, climbs a whole 20 places and replaces the previous favourite, Fornella Camping & Wellness Resort, which this time only comes in third place. As before, however, the campsites on the Venetian Adriatic are among the absolute favourites of German campers: the combination of sun, beach and culture is apparently unbeatable.

Croatia
Croatia continues to be one of the most popular destinations for German campers. Therefore, this year we present a top 50 list instead of the 25 most popular places as before. In addition to the many new entries, we can introduce a new frontrunner this year: Camping Omišalj in the north of the
island of Krk particularly inspired many campers in 2021. The previous favourite, the Zaton Holiday Resort, is relegated to third place instead.

France
It is no secret that France remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world – and rightly so. The country is also very popular with campers: from the roaring Atlantic coast to the mountains of the Jura, there are thousands of different campsites for every taste. In the ranking of France’s most popular campsites in 2021, much has remained the same – at least in the top positions. The two previous leaders, Camp du Domain and Camping La Côte d’Argent, were able to defend their positions and are also to be found in the top places this year. Camping Village Riva Bella on Corsica, on the other hand, made a big leap to third place – surprisingly, a nudist campsite is now among the top 3. There was also a lot of movement at the back of the field. Numerous campsites climbed up 30
or 40 places. The record holder is Camping Au Port-Punay, which was able to improve by no less than 56 places. In addition, there are many exciting newcomers: A whole 27 campsites are represented in 2021 that were not included last year – that is almost a third of the entire ranking.

The Netherlands
Camping and the Netherlands – they are inseparable. Not only the Dutch themselves appreciate the extensive range of fantastic campsites in their own country, but more and more German campers are also enthusiastic about the location, facilities and service. While the two previous winners were able to maintain their positions, there was a lot of movement in the ranking of Dutch campsites this year. Particularly noticeable are the sometimes large leaps that can be found in the ranking. This year’s third place, Papillon Country Resort, gained 28 points. Camping Delftse Hout just made it into the top 10 – but with a whopping increase of 91 points. The
most popular campsite in the Netherlands in 2021, as in the previous year, is Ardoer Camping Julianahoeve.
