Among the top 100 on PiNCAMP even with 3 or 4 stars

The analysis of the behaviour of German users of PINCAMP.de shows the 100 most popular campsites in Europe in 2024. The top ranks among the top 100 are occupied by campsites that have been classified with 5 stars by the ADAC.  But it doesn’t always have to be 5 stars: campsites with an ADAC classification of 3 or 4 stars also make it into the top 100. attractive 3- and 4-star campsites are also rewarded by a correspondingly high demand from their target groups. The growing importance of online bookings also stood out. Because what applies to all Top 100 on PiNCAMP.de also applies to the 3- and 4-star campsites in the Top 100 list: the majority of these campsites rely on online bookability.

Many campsites with 4 stars in the Top 100

As many as 41 campsites with 4 or 4.5 stars ranked among the top 100: the 4-star campsite Camping Heidehof in the Swabian Alb, for example, came 31st, the North Sea campsite Schillig in Lower Saxony 33rd and the Savudrija campsite in Istria 42nd. Other campsites that were awarded 4 stars by the ADAC even made it into the top 10 in Europe (Camping Village Europa Silvella or Ostseecamp Rostocker Heide). The naturist campsite Domaine Naturiste Riva Bella in Corsica climbed to 45th place, while the Croatian Lopari Camping Resort was also among the very well-placed 4-star campsites. Compared to the previous year, the camping resort made the biggest leap upwards – Lopari Camping Resort improved from 198th place in the previous year to 52nd place in 2024.

3-star campsites with very good ratings

Campsites from Germany are the most strongly represented in the top 100 with 36 campsites. The Frisian North Sea campsite Hooksiel is the best-placed 3-star campsite. At 65th place, it achieved a more than respectable result in the Top 100 – followed by the Bavarian campsite Alpenblick in 81st place and the 3.5-star campsite Lange Wisch in Schleswig-Holstein, which made it to 85th place.

About the ADAC classification and awarding of stars

The inspection and assessment is based on objectively measurable criteria, which are divided into into five categories. The categories are sanitary (with a weighting of 39%), space/terrain (26 %), catering and shopping (10 %) and leisure facilities (12.5 %). leisure facilities (12.5 %) and bathing facilities (12.5 %).
